<span style="font-size: large;">Our 2nd ESO A/B bilingual students read Sherlock Holmes’ Stories some weeks ago. They enjoyed them so much, that when they were proposed to develop a project on the book, they decided to adapt two of the stories and make them into plays to be performed in front of the class. And so did they.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large; text-align: justify;">After researching about acoustic pollution in our environment, some of the bilingual students of 1st ESO A,B,C,F have recorded a radio program based on interviews related to this important issue in today's society.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">In the current program, they speak about the main sources of noise pollution, proposing possible solutions in order to avoid this problem.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This project has been carried out in music classes with their teacher, and the main aim has been to create environmental awareness in our students.</span></div>

This is the the main goal of the activity carried out by 4th ESO students along with their teacher Mª José Arias. Students read the book <i>A foreigner in Britain </i>based on the experiences of a Spanish character visiting different places of Great Britain including London, Oxford or York. The main aim, which is getting to know the British culture and customs, has been achieved. Students have worked using PBL (Project Based Learning) and the result has been amazing. From board games, tests, letters to newspapers,a wide variety of activities have been thought and created by the students. Congrats for the result, creativity and invested time.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">On November 12th, once again, about 280 students from our school from 1st to 3rd year of Secondary Education had the opportunity to attend the play in English "The End of the Beginning" by the theatre company "Moving On" in the assembly hall of the C.P.R. in Badajoz. This company, created in 1988 by native actors from Great Britain and specialized in schools, has been offering this kind of entertaining, communicative and funny activities to our centre for several editions consecutively. It is a performance of about 60 minutes of duration, entirely in English.</span></div>

This year's topic has been the famous Brexit, its consequences and repercussions. The show includes a test on British citizenship to which students were invited to respond and they did so with enthusiasm to demonstrate their knowledge and their command of the country's culture.</div>

It's been a while since we started out our <b>SONWRITING PROJECT</b>. Back in January, a team of bilingual teachers came up with the idea of producing a song with our students from scratch. The idea was to provide them with the tools to write the lyrics for a given song.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Their English teachers <b>Adelaida Fernández </b>and <b>Virigina Pacheco </b>with the support of <b>Raquel Fernández </b>and<b> Alexandra Shultz </b>as well, made a great effort to help our students understand how to express their feelings on a blank paper. Measuring syllables and try to rhyme was another big deal in this project.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">On the other hand, <b>Fran Rodríguez</b>, their Music teacher, helped them to fit the lyrics with the given melodies. They sang their creations and, sometimes, made up their minds to improve their results. Again rhyming, using synonims, other expressions. And everything done in a collaborative way.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Once we had all the work done, we shortlisted four out of the nine songs written. Unfortunately, only one of them could make it through. I have to say that all students did their best and I take my hat off to them for that. The winners were <b>Alba Mateos, Raúl Rodríguez, Carmen Rodríguez</b> and <b>Rocío Iglesias</b>.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The last stage of this project was funny too. <b>Mª José Quintana</b> and <b>Fran Rodríguez, </b>prepared the <b>ICP</b> choristers to perform and record the song. After weeks of rehearsals, we finally premiered the song <b>IT'S WEIRD </b>coinciding with our school feast. Rewards and certificates were handed out to the winners and the finalist. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The instrumental (bass, drums, acoustic guitars) and vocal track was produced and recorded by <b>Fran Rodríguez</b>. We also had the especial collaboration of our colleague <b>Marcos García</b> on the electric guitar.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Finally, our colleage and friend <b>Isabel Montesinos, </b>former teacher of our school and award-winning theatre producer, made the last miracle possible. She contacted with <b><a href="http://www.ondacampus.es/">Onda Campus</a> </b>and they</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Our 1st ESO students, along with their teacher Mª José Arias, have worked on some creative writing projects. One of them is about the book Tom Sawyer. First, we have read and worked in groups of three on the book using several actities to support the reading. Secondly, we have chosen the main tools to get to write. Openings, closings, main verbs, adjectives and nouns to be used and some connectors. Then, we have picked out three characters, a main one and two minor ones. Finally, we started the creative process. They have been able to produce wonderful new stories. It has been a great experience and we are all proud of the result.</span></div>

Rodríguez, our music teacher, has been doing with SF Radio during all these years. There were two radio programmes, a hands-on Social Science project about Egypt, a bird-watching activity that combined P.E. and Biology content, and two activities carried out in the English language classes: one giving the students scaffolding to create their own texts with a Fanfics workshop, and one in which they pretended to be "Sherlock Holmes", trying to give reasons to support their discoveries.</div>
